TALKIN''BOUT A ..: Revolution, the River Market's biggest club, packs in a crowd.
The number of clubs drawing national touring bands has more than doubled in the last decade. Last year marked the first full year of operation for Revolution and the Village, mid-sized clubs that can hold 550 and 800, respectively. With these additions, there are more name acts coming to Central Arkansas than ever before.  

The Village has been offering eight to 10 shows a month. Juanita’s, Sticky Fingerz and Revolution have nightly music. Little Rock also has a number of smaller clubs, dance clubs and pool halls for more after-hours entertainment.

Here’s a look at the clubs:

Afterthought: A variety of acts, from jazz to blues to roots-rock, 8 p.m. Mon.-Thu., 9 p.m. Fri.-Sat. Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation presents regional and national jazz acts at 8 p.m. Mon. Cover varies. 21 and up. No smoking. 2721 Kavanaugh Blvd., 663-1196. www.vieuxcarre.com. 

Aquarium: A club geared toward alternative lifestyles, mostly focusing on female clientele, open usually on weekends. 824 W. Capitol Ave., 375-8580. 

Cajun’s Wharf: Local, regional and national rock, blues and funk acts. Free happy hour entertainment 4:30 p.m. Wed.-Fri. Headliners Thu.-Sat. with $5 cover after 8:30 p.m. Nightly free happy hour entertainment, and a cover charge for the acts starting at 8:30 p.m. Thu.-Sat. Discovery: High-energy DJ music on Sat.; open 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sat. only. Shares space with Back Street, catering to alternative lifestyles and open 9 p.m. Fri.-Sun. Easy Street Piano Bar: Featuring pop, Broadway standards and other classics from a variety of piano players at 6 p.m. Mon., 8 p.m. Tue.-Wed. and 9 p.m. Thu.-Sat. Thu. is jazz night. No cover charge. Most weekends the back cabaret room features local, national and regional rock and alternative music, usually starting at 9:30 p.m. with a cover charge that varies. All ages. No smoking. 307 W.
