A hearing set today on a lawsuit challenging the closure of rural Paron High School was postponed, for those of you hanging on this issue.

Scott Smith, the Dept. of Ed’s lawyer, asked for the postponement — his reasons, according to the letter he filed, were that because the school wouldn’t close before July 1 anyway there was no irreparable harm in not having the hearing today, and that some defendants had not been served by plaintiffs’ attorney Chris Heller yet because they’d been out of town and weren’t expected back until next week.

Ron Crawford, leader of the save Paron forces (and a big supporter of Asa!, natch) said his side agreed to the postponement because it’s such a major issue, and putting off the hearing will simply mean that everyone involved is better prepared.
