The Little Rock School District has received a grant of almost $1 million, one of 124 awarded nationwide, to improve the teaching of American history.

The LRSD, in partnership with UALR, will devise a professional development program that will include master history teachers (some are on staff already, in our estimation) and innovative lesson plans. All teachers will be able to get 210 hours of in-depth study on key historic topics, according to a U.S. Education Department release.
