The Nature Conservancy and the state Game and Fish Commision upped the ante on the increasingly pessimistic search for an ivory-billed woodpecker in the Big Woods of Arkansas. They’re offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads either agency to a pecker nest, roost cavity or feeding site. (No: we did NOT say dead or alive.)
The offer was unveiled during a meeting Tuesday night in Brinkley.

The idea is that folks who explore the woods for whatever reason will pack a camera as well as gun, rod, etc., to bring back some evidence. Biologists will follow up reports substantiated with an original photograph or sound recording or other substantive evidence – obtained without harassment of the woodpecker.
