A Texarkana stockbroker and his pediatrician wife reportedly have bought Gov. Mike Huckabee’s Lake Greeson home in Daisy for around $345,000. We told you about the deal in progress earlier thanks to Lawrence Graves at the Nashville News, who graciously tipped us on the story they’ll have on the sale’s closing in today’s paper. We’ll be posting it shortly, technology willing. We’re told it appears to be an arm’s length deal and that the big appreciation in the house price (Huckabee acquired it in 1998 for about $151,000) is due in part to conversion of the basement to more living space along with a general rise in lakeside home values and water access. As we understand it, the Huckabee property comes with dock privileges under a sort of easement that existed before they bought it but is no longer obtainable under rules of the Corps of Engineers, which manages the lake.
