Maxine’s Tap Room suffered “extensive damage” from a fire earlier this morning, according to Battalion Chief Terry Lawson of the Fayetteville Fire Department.
Lawson said that firefighters responded to a call around 3:30 a.m., and it took about thirty minutes to contain the blaze inside the storied bar on North Block Street.
“There was extensive damage to the interior,” Lawson said. “The building itself is still ok, but the contents were extensively damaged.”
Lawson said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Bar founder Maxine Miller died in May, but the Tap Room has remained open since then.
