Sir Charles Barkley, the former basketball star, announced this week that he’s quitting the Republican Party and going Democratic, perhaps to run someday for governor of Alabama. Smarter than we thought, until he got personal in referring to failed Alabama leadership.

“If it wasn’t for Arkansas and Mississippi, we’d be dead last in everything. I think we can do better,” he said.

But his best quote was uttered a while back: “I was a Republican until they lost their minds.”
