According to a press release just issued by his campaign, Mike Beebe last night announced that, if elected governor, he would convert state-owned diesel-powered vehicles to run on bio-diesel fuel instead.

“We’ve set a deadline in 2009 to have 75 percent of our state diesel vehicles running on bio-diesel produced by Arkansas farmers,” Beebe told the Arkansas Farm Bureau Young Ranchers. “You are the future of our state’s agricultural industry and our economy.   You are the people that will produce the crops for bio-diesel and will reap the benefit of cheaper fuel for farm equipment.”
