We predicted months ago that the Republican fall campaign, inevitably, would devolve into immigrant and gay bashing, with little leverage available on meaningful issues. And when news came last week that the Democratic Party planned to remove references to marriage from the party platform — after all, same-sex marriage is now officially illegal and unconstitutional in Arkansas and thus a dead issue — you knew Republicans would leap to make something of it. Let it be known that the Republicans support marriage unconditionally. At least until an attractive subordinate twitches along and requires the boss to ditch a long-term wife for something younger.
