This 9/11, Huckster will be jockeying for TV time. First. on 9/10 in Ankeny, Iowa, a state that just happens to be home to an important presidential caucus. Not that he would capitalize on a solemn anniversary for politcal gain, mind you. From the Des Moines Register:

As part of a special observance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, firefighters and police officers in Ankeny will be honored this weekend.

The event, “The Fifth Anniversary of 9/11: Recognize and Remember,” will honor those killed in the line of duty as well as Ankeny Armed Forces personnel. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ankeny Band Shell.

The National Guard Helicopter Squad will fly above the event as music is played, and Mayor Steve VanOort will recognize city, state and national leaders. Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican who is considered to be a potential candidate for president, also will speak.

This event is co-sponsored by First Family Church and Ankeny Free Church.

UPDATE: Sorry for getting my dates confused in the original post. Arkies get The Huckster on the anniversary day itself. On 9/11, after jetting back from Iowa, the Huckster will play to local TV cameras. He according to his office, “will lead Arkansans in the Nationwide America Supports You Freedom Walk” at 8:30 a.m. He’ll march from Cross Street and Capitol to the Capitol steps for a service. It will follow the Bush game plan and conflate 9/11 with the war in Iraq by paying tribute to 9/11 victims and the military. Perhaps he’ll stir us with something original and memorable. Such as, “if  we don’t fight them in Baghdad we’ll be fighting them on the (now very well paved) streets of Bigelow.”
