We understand that mayoral candidate Bill Walker will shortly announce that he has divested his interest in the catering contract at Little Rock National Airport. It has bubbled beneath the surface in the mayoral race and he’s said all along that he’d divest if elected. Now, apparently, he’s decided to move the decision up. This will put some pressure on Mark Stodola, whose law firm has a lucrative contract to handle the Airport Commission’s legal business.

Walker reportedly will say he’ll make only a small profit from selling the minority contractor portion of the airport catering back to Host Marriott, which will find another minority partner. We trust that the new partner will have no connections, however indirect, to Bill Walker and that the public will be provided full details on what this arrangement is worth.
