The LA Times features the rise of the Blue Dogs, the conservative Democratic caucus in the House, and its potentially pivotal role in election of the House Speaker. Rep. Mike Ross is quoted. I’ll search later for a few of the dozens of analyses that debunk the Republican spin he regurgitates that the Democratic takeover was powered by conservatives. There were some. There were some liberals. There were many more beyond ready classification. But that’s Ross.

Mike Ross of Arkansas, another Blue Dog leader, said the Democratic Party owed its success in the midterm election to the conservative Democrats who won many seats formerly held by Republicans. “Republicans did not lose their seats to liberal Democrats,” Ross said. “Republicans lost their seats to Blue Dog Democrats, to conservative Democrats.”
