First Lady Janet Huckabee is in the hospital, recovering from surgery to both knees for treatment of osteoarthritis. Full release on the jump.

We had an early tip on this, but, needless to say, had to wait for the official release to confirm. (Actually, we had to wait for friends to share the official release with us since we aren’t favored by the governor’s press office.)

Mrs. Huckabee (pictured in one of her walking outings) is energetic and athletic. We cheered her brisk walk in the Little Rock Marathon last year (around 16 minutes a mile) and can imagine the frustration convalescence will cause her. If anyone can beat the norm on recuperation, I’d bet on her, having seen her in action.
