The standard GOP game plan – which the party needs to change, by the way – is to do an advertising blitz to paint your opponent as a tax and spend liberal without values.

There were three problems with that GOP game plan this year. First, Arkansas Democrats had far more money, meaning they could define themselves. Second, the game plan is utterly predictable. If USC ran the same play on every down, Arkansas would have beaten them by now. Finally, you can’t paint your opponent as a tax and spend liberal when he clearly has business support while you clearly don’t.
