Youmin Wu, who started UAMS’ liver transplantation program, has been named director of pediatric transplantation at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Yu came to Arkansas in 2004 with the specific intent to start the pediatric program, but Children’s was unable to get federal reimbursement for the procedure. In 2006, ACH started the process to get Medicaid reimbursement.

Children’s Hospital public relations director Dan McFadden wasn’t available for comment, but UAMS spokesman Leslie Taylor confirmed the move. She said Wu had “done a great job” and added that Dr. Gary Barone has been named the new director of the division of transplantation surgery at UAMS.
