Little Rock School Board meets in a special meeting tonight. Topics include a contract for interim superintendent Linda Watson, the particulars of the buyout of Supt. Roy Brooks’ contract and proposed settlements of a couple of employment disputes. At this hour, none of the specifics were available for public review. All school board members have not received details on either matter relating to the superintendent. That’s no way to run a public institution.
Also: The Little Rock Classroom Teachers Association’s representative council completed candidate interviews yesterday and made an endorsement in the race for Zone 2 — incumbent Michael Daugherty. A statement commented on the number, quality and commitment of four candidates, but said Daugherty was the best (statement on jump). The CTA interviewed three of the candidates. Michael Nellums sent a statement, but didn’t appear for an interview.
UPDATE: No action of consequence at School Board meeting tonight. No specifics on buyout. Looks like they want to pay Watson what Brooks is being paid, but that, too, is still in progress. Some disagreement on what to do about Brooks the next two weeks. He’ll be super, but Watson is waiting in the wings. Who makes decisions about next school year?
