We just watched as Central Arkansas Transit had a car flatbedded away from the corner of Cumberland and President Clinton Ave, down the street from our building. The transgression: a fender jutting over the white line on the south side of President Clinton Ave. — the line that marks the streetcar right of way. The trolley had been stuck for 20-odd minutes out in front of the offices of the Arkansas Times, waiting for the obstruction to be cleared. Almost on cue, less than a minute after the tow truck rolled away, what appeared to be the angry owner of the car arrived on the scene, just in time for a chat with a waiting bicycle cop.
They’re serious about those lines, folks.
