State of the Union vignette. (Updated with photo, though not the one I’ve seen from behind Kennedy’s back, which is more striking.) Hillary extends hand to Kennedy, Obama. Kennedy reciprocates. Obama, the beacon of hope and civility, doesn’t, or suddenly finds something else to do, depending on your interpretation. The Balitmore Sun, which is linked, viewed it as a snub and says others in the press gallery had the same interpretation.  Given the angry tone of some of Obama’s victory remarks in South Carolina and his sneering debate crack about Hillary’s likability, a snub fits the pattern. That’s OK, by the way. Maybe even understandable. Just contrary to his message.
