Willie Oates died this morning. She was 90 and had been mostly out of the public eye in recent years. Older folks will remember her as the “Hat Lady” for her large collection of same; as a former Razorback cheerleader who leapt anew at many reunions over the years; as a former state legislator, and, years ago, for near weekly appearance in the Sunday “society” sections of the daily newspapers on account of her busy club activities. Little Rock Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.
