The Democrat-Gazette today reported on a case that has been bubbling in Murfreesboro for sometime, about a conflict over the hiring of a doctor, Lonnie Joseph Parker, with a federal conviction for possession of child pornography, to run the local hospital. Yes, that’s the same doctor about whom Mara Leveritt wrote three articles for the Arkansas Times. To say prosecution handling of this case was curious is to put it mildly. Law enforcement misconduct is how some might view it.  The curiosities included the prosecution of Parker by someone not licensed to practice law in Arkansas.

The articles pre-date a Times website makeover, so I can’t link them directly. But Parker has posted all the articles on his website and to the best of my knowledge they are reprinted there as they appeared. They are the basis of much of what is mentioned in today’s daily paper about the curiosities of the case.
