About 180 people who live near the Cargill meat packing plant in Booneville are being evacuated after an explosion at the plant earlier this afternoon that involved an ammonia tank. The fire apparently started in a freezer around 2 p.m. and was burning out of control. No injuries reported — there were about two dozen people at the plant when the fire started — but the ammonia fumes are trouble. The plant employs about 800 people. Read more here.
