Arkansas Business offers a window on the Arkansas businessman, and I do mean man, in a couple of articles this week.

It means being aware, in Wal-Mart’s case, of wage-and-hour violations and doing nothing about it.

It means, in the case of Arkansas’s public companies, being primarily a white boys’ club. The percentage of women and minoritiy members of the state’s 20 publicly held companies is, cumulatively, in the single digits in both cases. These nine companies were listed as having not a single woman or minority board member — America’s Car Mart, Arkansas Best, Deltic Timber, First Federal Bancshares, Home Bancshares, P.A.M. Transportation, Simmons First National, Thermo Energy and USA Truck.
