UPDATE: My betters have convinced me that my use of some joke photos of Sarah Palin to illustrate the following quote fell short as satire. My point was that, as the campaign indicates, issues don’t matter. Palin offers, at most, a pretty face. Indeed, by keeping her under wraps, the Republicans have suggested as much.

That would be in keeping with what McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis said would drive voters’ decisions this year:

“This election is not about issues,” said Davis. “This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”

Though several readers were onto the game, many others apparently were not, thinking the photo I posted was “real,” and not a photoshopped creation. I intended to send that message, if subtly, with use of Davis’ quote about the “composite view” of candidates. Better not to mess up the message with the photos if it only mystifies, right or wrong. Or offends some fair-minded folks whose opinions I value.
