Though the big news is over, there are still some things to sort through uncovered in the course of reviewing UCA paperwork during the controversy over President Lu Hardin’s pay.
For example, we turned up a contribution by the UCA Foundation to a private foundation set up in honor of a 9/11 victim. Turns out Sen. Gilbert Baker, tied up in many mutually beneficial ways with UCA, was on the payroll of that foundation for a time, supposedly as a fund-raiser, though not much of one. He was also providing a little help for the widow of the victim in setting her up as a Republican political candidate. Other family members apparently raised questions about the arrangement.
