UPDATE: As most of you know, we haven’t yet solved the blog’s sign-in difficulties. But one possible solution would be to end authentication of commenters. We’d have to use a filter to keep out spambots if went to open posting. For this different process to work, we might have to require an e-mail address. It would not be visible to the public at large. Many other blogs use open commenting with a required e-mail. The email requirement seems to serve, as our registration current does, to limit the basest inclinations of most commenters.

I’d be interested in feedback on such a change, presuming you are able to do so. or write me at max@arktimes.com

PS — Movable Type is promising a fix that it will implement over a several-hour period on Friday, Dec. 12. Fingers crossed.

Note to commenters: Due to issues with spam/scams and complaints with our former comments system, we have implemented a new system called Hyvor. You must create a new account (separate from any paywall accounts you may have) in order to leave a comment. The First and Last name field will display as your author name, so use a psuedonym if you want to retain anonymity. More info
