Elizabeth Jenkins (Betty) Rutherford, reputed to be Arkansas’s second oldest resident, died today in Batesville at 110. She was the grandmother of Skip Rutherford, the well-known politico who’s now dean of the Clinton School of Public Service. Her great-grandson, Blake, remembers her with a post on his blog today.
The Batesville Guard wrote this article about Mrs. Rutherford shortly before her 109th birthday.
Here’s a clip of Skip Rutherford talking to the state’s oldest resident, Ruth Lincoln, in a 2006 interview at the Clinton School. She’s 111.
Graveside service for Mrs. Rutherford is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.
