Bud Cummins, the former U.S. attorney in LR, couldn’t have asked for a better resume builder than the interview in the D-G today about his employment travails since he was forced out of office by the Bush administration.
Might he still have political aspirations? I ask because I thought he was mighty kind in dismissing any political conspiracy in the mass U.S. attorney ousters. Just rogue operators helping friends, Cummins figures. Maybe. But I think the reporting has revealed plenty of political machinations extending into the White House on several of the appointments. And it remains an interesting question about what might have happened in Arkansas this election year had Tim Griffin held onto the slot created for him.
The subject also merited a mention of U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor’s key role in forcing the dirty business into the sunshine.
