County Clerk Pat O’Brien announced today that the U.S. Justice Department would not oppose Pulaski County’s motion to end the 2004 consent decree that grew out of the failure of the county’s election system. “In short, the Department of Justice has given us a clean bill of health,” O’Brien said.
The feds sued the county over the pluperfect mess that a former clerk had made of voting records. O’Brien credited election direct Susan Inman and Election Commission Chair Kent Walker, among others, for the work to bring election processes up to standards.
