News of note for the Heights/Hillcrest crowd (and beyond):
Lex and Ellen Golden and their children Alex Golden and Amy McCay have purchased Terry’s Finer Foods, the old-line carriage trade grocery on Kavanaugh, from Gene Lewellen. The Goldens, whose business interests include Allied Bank and Antiques on Kavanaugh, won’t be changing Terry’s, with its charge accounts, custom butcher and other personalized service.
They plan, however, to convert adjacent space currently used for store storage that once housed Sue’s Pie Shop. It will house a restaurant with deli items and blue plate specials in the spirit of Chattie’s Restaurant, which the Goldens once owned on Kavanaugh. (That building now houses Cafe Prego.) In time, that restaurant space could expand to the second floor of the Terry’s building.
