Scott Miller at NLR Daily News reports a sharp decline in North Little Rock sales tax revenue in the last quarter of 2008. If the experience continues in a tax that produces a third of the city’s revenue, city service cuts are inevitable. Despite the new Wal-Marts, a new baseball stadium and new downtown projects there’s still no rising tide for all the little NLR boats.

It is an illustration of the emptiness of Mayor Hays’ promise that stealing school tax revenue for corporate welfare use will somehow create a wave of economic good fortune that will eventually trickle down upon the school kids.
