The Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum, otherwise known as Commodore Hays’ Navy, drew a record 20,017 visitors in 2008, to add to about 22,000 in its first two years of operation.

The city has spent nearly $3 million on the operation, with ongoing general fund expenses nearing $100,000 a year, according to the last report I saw. Its revenue from tickets and souvenirs may come close to offsetting the operating costs.
