It’s been debated in Senate Committee this morning. David Goins of Fox 16 quotes one senator, Bill Pritchard, as saying if he treated men and women equally he’d treat women worse than he does now. Stone age politics continues to prevail in Ark.

UPDATE: The Equal Rights Amendment failed to clear committee. The vote was 4-4.

The three Repubs were lost causes from the outset. The potential swing voter, Bobby Glover, said he made his decision based on testimony, which didn’t persuade him women were discriminated against in Arkansas. (Care to comment anyone?) The Religious Right bombardment was also a factor, he said. (He called it “calls from constituents.”)
