The NY Times today has a long story on U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s pivotal role in shaping health legislation. Among the quotes:
“I am opposed to a fully government-funded and government-run option,” she said afterward. “We have got a great private marketplace now that works, we just need to make it more affordable.
“And the way we do that is by providing more choices and creating greater competition and making sure that those who are uninsured, whether they are uninsured because the small marketplace or the individual marketplace is too expensive for them, then we need to make it reasonable in terms of its affordability.”
Choice and affordability. Mr. Reid and Mr. McConnell, are you taking notes?
