It’s hard to say if this has direct implications for North Little Rock, where legal challenges have tied up Mayor Pat Hays’ dream of a Bass Pro Shops in Dark Hollow, but it can’t help. The Springfield, Mo., outdoor goods megastore chain is laying off people in the department that designs new stores.

“With the economy right now, we just aren’t building any new stores,” [Larry] Whiteley said.
