Coming tomorrow:
LITTLE ROCK – A new study to be released Wednesday will reveal how poor Arkansas taxpayers shoulder twice the burden than do the richest taxpayers. The study, by the Washington D.C.-based Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, will be released in Arkansas by Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.
You don’t think disproportionate impact of the tax burden is an accident, do you? Something the legislature will hurry to fix?
UPDATE: Context is right for a link to a headline on the poll that shows a majority of Americans would support a tax on the rich to pay for better health care. A majority of Arkansans would prefer a different distribution of tax burden to pay for state public services, too, I’d bet. But poor folks don’t have many paid lobbyists working the marble halls, steakhouses and bars where lawmakers meet.
