Jim Holt’s Facebook page now clearly says his scheduled Dec. 29 fund-raisers are for a race for U.S. Senate. He got 44 percent of the vote as Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s Republican challenger in 2004.

He has not officially announced for the seat. And there’s always a chance, based on what he or his spokesman has said so far, that an absence of fund-raising support in these efforts might prompt a decision not to enter the race. He might drop down to a state Senate race instead.

We’ll know when filing time comes. I can stand the suspense.
