I leave the line open for those who’ll be on the computer now and then today.
My kids are old enough to sleep in. But soon, they’ll be up and our rituals will begin. Presents, monkey bread and orange juliuses.

Friends and relations will arrive for the mid-afternoon feast, also long ago ritualized — a champagne toast, pickles and olives, shrimp cocktail, roast beef, potato casserole, peas, homemade rolls (below), trifle, flaming figgy pudding, Stilton. If that’s not enough — and it is — there are more homemade cookies, cakes and candies around than a family should have in a year of Christmases.
Then, perhaps, a nap.
I count many blessings, among them this vibrant on-line community.
NEWS UPDATE: Here’s a handy link to check road conditions. Still a couple of flood-closed roads at 7 a.m. Christmas morning in South Arkansas AND, Fox 16’s David Goins notes at 8:30 a.m., 67-167 between Sherwood and Jacksonville is still closed by flooding, but the bigger problems now seem to be ice and snow in the far west and northern parts of the state.
