Arkansas Business reports that Rep. John Boozman and Sen. Gilbert Baker had to play a little defense at the GOP senatorial debate in Conway. Boozman, for supporting the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Baker for supporting sending money from the state’s general improvement fund to his district for an interchange. Boozman, to his credit, did have this to say about TARP.
“There’s nothing conservative about allowing the lending institutions of your country to disintegrate,” Boozman said. “Bottom line is, I thought at the end of the day we would lose less jobs, the people of Arkansas would lose less jobs, they would lose less savings and less pension savings as the result of voting for it.”
