Roby Brock, over at Talk Business, has released some more polling data. There are some pretty interesting numbers on the Democratic side of the race for the second congressional district seat soon to be vacated by Rep. Vic Snyder. Twenty one percent of those polled favored Joyce Elliott, followed by Robbie Wills at 16 percent. Patrick Kennedy came in third with 11 percent, finishing above David Boling (7 percent) and John Adams (4 percent).
If you ask me (and you didn’t), the big surprise here is Kennedy. Although he might not have the fundraising power of the other candidates (Boling has over $200,000 cash on-hand, a number Kennedy probably won’t come close to), he’s not afraid to speak his mind and seems hell-bent on making this campaign about the issues as opposed to experience.
Conventional wisdom says that Robbie Wills would have done better than 16 percent due to simple name recognition. Wills was a high-profile Speaker of the House during the last legislative session, blogging like mad and making regular TV appearances. This looks like really good news for Joyce Elliott.
On the GOP side, it’s a split. Tim Griffin came in at 20 percent, as did Scott Wallace. The other 60 percent of respondents were undecided. Go to Talk Business for more analysis.
