… each salvo from a U.S. Senate candidate makes me less inclined to vote for the salvo-er.
Today’s mailer from Blanche Lincoln that says Bill Halter “corporate millionaire” (as opposed to Delta subsidy queen/medical-industrial complex millionaire Blanche) has a dangerous plan for Social Security is the latest example. His record of support for Social Security is clear and demonstrated by his work there. Neither candidate will harm seniors. Both will be forced to make withholding changes and COLA and other changes to guarantee the soundness of the system should they be around when push comes to shove. I second the Halter campaign statement on the ad:
The latest mailer from Senator Lincoln perpetuates the lie that an independent organization previously made about the Lieutenant Governor. This one has her personal stamp of approval. She said at last Saturday’s debate before APME that she signs off on the “Friends of Blanche Lincoln” mail pieces.
Not only is this beneath the dignity of a U.S. Senator, as Lieutenant Governor Halter said during the APME debate, but it also is an insult to Arkansas voters.
On second thought: Is there anything beneath the dignity of an Arkansas voter? You wouldn’t think so from this advertising. Lincoln, who I leaned toward as late as Monday for pragmatic and personal reasons, clearly is a desperate woman. She clearly believes she can’t win without bodacious lies if such an ad is not beneath her. The dishonest smear hurts her and irreparably damages the core goodwill I’ve long held for her. It might be time to go all in on Bill Halter.
