A letter writer in the D-G the other day proposed some sure-fire method for plugging the rampaging BP oil well . He was sure it would work. I had the same thought then that I do now about Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s belief that he knows more about science than the scientists do.
He knows more about politics. He knows that the frustrated people of Louisiana want action. So he’ll give it to them — rock walls, earthen berms, whatever — no matter what damage it might further cause to Louisiana’s already vanishing wetlands. If the years of destruction caused by oil company canals didn’t teach Jindal and his ilk anything, nothing will.
