Funny coincidence. You’ve been reading about Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Keet’s improper claim of a homestead tax exemption on property in Arkansas while he was a resident of Florida. (An honest mistake by his wife, says the bus driver.)

The New York Times today writes
about widespread abuse of of homestead exemptions around the country. I wonder if local officials have given a systematic thought to this. Perhaps a matchup of homestead recipients with voter rolls? Jim Keet’s wife’s honest mistake would have been caught several years earlier.
