A panel of the state Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission has recommended the removal of Phillips County Circuit Judge L.T. Simes from the bench, this time for his actions in trying to get a fired police chief reinstated. He’d been recommended for removal in an earlier case over his practice of law on the bench, but the state Supreme Court modified the punishment for suspension during his current term. He won election to another term in May, however. Should this recommendation stick with the full commission in October and on Supreme Court appeal, he would be removed permanently, election or no election.
