Politico reports that some chambers of commerce around the country weren’t happy about the U.S. Chamber of Commerce political blitzkrieg to elect a Republican Congress this year. Some of them went so far as to end affiliations with the national group.
No, no peep is heard from Arkansas chambers in this account. As I’ve noted before, LR Chamber President Jay Chesshir is a member of the U.S. Chamber’s prestigious Committee of 100, comprised of leaders, the article says, “some of the largest and most influential state and local chapters.”
Said the article:
Looking ahead to the 2012 elections, if more local chambers publicly declare their independence, it could undermine the power and credibility of attacks launched from the Washington office.
Arkies best not hold their breaths.
