Another in a string of posts about Martin Luther King Day, but this, I thought, was worth pointing out. The State of Arkansas Facebook page has drawn the attention of some with this post:
The State of Arkansas would like to wish all my citizens and friends a very happy Dr. Martin Luther King/General Robert E. Lee Day on Monday! For those of you with the day off, enjoy it!
I’m not sure this is actually run by the state, however, the link included on the “info” page goes to the state Parks and Tourism website. What with this being Robert E. Lee day and all, we can’t get anyone on the phone to confirm or deny that the Facebook page is actually run by the state. The post has sparked a rather heated string of comments. In response to commentors who objected to the post, the page administrator pointed out that, in Arkansas, today is officially Martin Luther King Jr/Gen. Robert E. Lee day. “If you have a problem with it and would like to see it changed, you might want to contact your State Senator and/or State Representative,” the administrator wrote.
