A bit of an online furor this morning after the gay/lesbian blogs lit up with word that the Harps grocery store in Mountain Home had apparently put obscene material placards over all the copies of Us Weekly Magazine bearing the family portrait of openly-gay singer Elton John, his partner, and their new baby.

Bloggers jumped on the story quickly, posting the phone number of the Harps home office online for people to register their disapproval, . The twitter user who originally spotted the placards said they were placed over every copy of the magazine in all the checkstands, but recently posted that they have since been taken down.

UPDATE: Harps corporate has issued a statement regarding the blocking of the cover.
