The legislature lottery oversight committee discussed the Arkansas Lottery scholarships this afternoon — specifically whether revenue can sustain the existing scholarships of $5,000 for students at four-year schools and $2,500 at two-year schools.
Here’s a proposed law change discussed at the meeting, according to Gerard Matthews.

Bottom line: the committee without discussion approved a cut in future scholarships to $4,500 and $2,250. Current recipients will continue at the higher amounts. The cut would have even greater pocketbook impact at colleges where costs are rising — that is, the scholarship pays an even smaller percentage of total fees.
The change will require legislative approval.
