The Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board has sent a useful list of tips to remember when making home repairs. Unfortunately, emergency needs arising from storm damage sometimes make it harder. It’s on the jump.

New legislation, which doesn’t take effect until Jan. 1, will require a license for contractors doing all jobs worth more than $2,000. For now, licensing isn’t required for residential remodelers or people who do repairs to existing homes, including roofers.
