The line is open. Close-outs:

* GUN NUTTERY: Florida has passed a bill that prohibits doctors — they are particularly targeting pediatricians — from talking to patients about whether they own guns. 2nd Amendment trumps 1st, see. The gun nuts have always seen it that way. Oh, and more, Texas will allow concealed handguns on college campuses.

* FREELOADERS: Add Whirlpool, which has a major factory in Fort Smith (though smaller than it was before jobs started migrating to foreign countries), to the list of companies that have paid no income taxes the last three years despite robust profits. I’d be willing to bet the state income tax coffers have been similarly unrewarded by the corporation.

* THERE HUCK GOES AGAIN: Do tell. Huckster breaks some financial disclosure rules, pays fines.

* THE LR SCHOOL CANDIDATE: June Rimmer, an education foundation leader, has had a busy day in Little Rock today meeting students, parents, teachers and others as the sole current candidate for superintendent of the Little Rock School District. I’ve talked to four people, each a decidedly different “stakeholder,” who’ve met her or seen her answer questions and their remarks were positive. “Student-centered,” was a phrase three of them used. There’s an open forum with her at school offices at 5:30 p.m. and then a School Board executive session at 7:30 p.m.

* STEVE WOMACK IS THREE BRICKS SHY: Watch his YouTube. (Link corrected.) Does he really think you sell oil pumped in the U.S. for one price and oil from elsewhere for another? And did he really understand the quote from the gas pumper he quoted:
“The poorer get poorer and the richer get richer.” Doesn’t he know this is an apt description of his (Womack’s) own vote to kill Medicare and cut taxes for the rich?

* WACKJOB WATCH: At a national news conference today, several teabaggers said they might go along with a raise in the debt ceiling if the military would reinstate Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and stop putting women in forward combat areas.

* TWITTER OF THE DAY: From Angela Rachels:

NLR man arrested after falling asleep inside a woman’s home in Conway. When she found him asleep in her house he said I thought was in Cabot.

* BRYANT FOLLIES: I don’t believe Bryant Mayor Jill “Republican” Dabbs got the opinion she wanted from the attorney general’s office in her effort to find some legal determination for her unilateral orders raising her pay and that of City Clerk Heather “Republican” Kizer above the amount prescribed in a city pay plan that takes previous experience into account. She might still argue that her pay was reduced contrary to state statute. But it never should have been increased to the level she unilaterally ordered without council approval because it was not justified by ordinance. The attorney general declined to interpret the Bryant ordinance.

* STATE HOSPITAL WOES: Still more questions raised about the sufficiency of care for younger patients at the State Hospital.
