The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality will hold its second public hearing on whether to grant SWEPCO a permit for a proposed coal ash landfill on the site of the John W. Turk power plant in Hempstead County. Coal ash is a by-product of coal-fired power plants. The hearing will be held at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope campus tonight at 6 p.m. ADEQ will make a presentation on revisions to the permit and then open the hearing up for public comment. Sierra Club press release is on the jump.
